Kimberly Silver Kincaid began her professional career in 1978, teaching dogs obedience manners.
Kimberly’s first foray into AKC Obedience competitions was in 1984, and by 1986 she had achieved 7 titles on 5 dogs in two years- with all first and second placements.
Her early career as a highly successful trainer, dog show handler, and match obedience and match conformation judge propelled her to opening her first boarding/teaching kennel in 1985.
By retirement in 2009 she had 3 locations and had instructed over 2000 students. Her popular canine behavior classes and award winning grooming shops were acknowledged by the Better Business Bureau and Kimberly was a member of the Who’s Who in Business Executives and Professionals from 1995 until she retired in 2009. She authored a popular column in the local newspaper answering canine behavioral questions which was compiled into a book, “Why Does My Dog Eat Cat Litter”.
Favorite career memories are the time spent working and training in Iowa’s first Canine Search and Rescue Unit with her German Shephard Dog “Cadence” and the 8 years she spent raising and working with Guide Dogs For The Blind.
She is currently the Canine Behaviorist for Parker’s Animal Rescue, a non-profit rescue group based in Durango, Colorado. Kimberly is a myth buster- teaching her students the truth behind the myth of “alpha” behaviors as well as other detrimental non-truths concerning dog behavior that has been perpetuated over the years.
Her move to Durango, Colorado brought her out of retirement in 2010 as she recognized the need for canine behaviorists in the area. Another facility was built and she now spends her time in the beautiful Four Corners area of Southwest Colorado.
“Chimpanzees don’t raise warthogs. Humans are the only mammal species that takes on the rearing/breeding of other animals. And we do a very poor job.”
